World Party Clothing

This label have literally just launched (6pm last night oops), unfortunately I was so snowed under with emails, posts, work etc., I missed the official moment. Still, I’m sure plenty of you have too so here’s the low-down – World Party Clothing are a fiercely independent streetwear brand from the North of England, in fact they approached us for a review because they appreciate Buy Tees love for the indie brand – which is good to hear! They hand print all their own tees, have strong ethical leanings, every shirt is Fair Trade and all the inks used in the printing process are water based. You know this is a seriously committed brand, they even use 100% recycled envelopes (which are cheaper BTW)!

The subject matter is left field including some environmentalism and an expression of love for the humble bicycle. I have an old Raleigh Chopper downstairs, I really have to get it pimped somewhere so I can ride the damn thing. When Chris and I lived in Bristol in the early 90s I bought us a couple of cheap bikes and we rode all the way to Bath and back, unfortunately by the end of the journey all I had left of my reclaimed Postman’s bike was the bell :/ I ride hard! Still excuses asides we should all be getting on our bikes if we want the planet to survive another few decades! My fave tee of all has to be Wake and Bake which is bloody hilarious, if you’re a stoner you’ll probably snap this one up when you can remember how to use your credit card :D

Get ‘em all for £20 each in all sizes.

Super Shredder Tee

Posted: 27 Nov 2010 04:44 AM PST

If you’re a toon connoisseur, like your art street, and have something of a twisted sense of humour then you’re sure to love the Super Shredder Tee at TTOFS (Try This On For Size). There’s rather a amusing description on the product page, I don’t normally quote verbatim but this deserves repeating:-

When we put them on, we became super and mutated as well; getting all jacked up like we were in the first row of a Vanilla Ice concert! (is there even a second or third row?). Next thing we know we were underneath a dock, doing our best to smash said dock to bits all the while cursing the Ninja Turtles!

So be warned, even if it is the coolest take on a Superman Tee in donkey’s years its effects still might drag you into a long running fight with some of the worst superheroes ever conceived. Turtles that like pizza and martial arts and live in the sewer where they jibe on each other about being fat, lazy, and vain. None of them ever get drunk or stoned or have girlfriends or  curse so I am guessing they’re a little bit hard line religious too. Shredder had the right idea as far as I am concerned, but as usual, toon baddies never win. Dammit. If there are any cartoon characters with a chip on their shoulder reading this blog please can you murder the following:

  • Jerry
  • The Road Runner
  • TMNT
  • Itchy, actually just do the whole cast of The Simpsons – they need retiring!

Anyway all the tees are $18 each – Guys: 8.5oz 100 % cotton tubular pre-shrunk jersey (S-XL) – Girls: 7.5 oz 100% ringspun cotton. Super soft with slight stretch longer length, slightly scooped neck (S/XL).

Lion Dreads Tee

Lion Dreads Tee is one of just two designs on offer from brand spanking new label Always and Never. They’re based out of Oklahoma and Connecticut and ship right around the world. They seem to have their act together over there, aiming squarely at the indie/art market. With just a couple of shirts in the collection they still have some to work to cover but from what I can see it all looks pretty promising. Nice site design too, although that header is enormous…

You can get this wild design in both heather grey and aqua for a reasonable $15 each, I like it, I nice cultural crossover with no naff slogans, a sweet piece of surrealism and a really generous print area sets the Lion Dreads Tee in good stead. Get back to nature the jungle with this early venture into the market. One for the Jah warriors I guess… BTW they’re selling out fast – no XS sizes left for the Heather Grey version and real low on the XL’s too. Love those little extra details, nice printed tags :D

Definitely worth keeping an eye out for these guys.
