CURRENT MING XI - COUTURE 2011
The Asian inspiration of the Spring/Summer 2011 haute couture collections provided the jumping-off point for Nick Knight's latest shoot for V magazine. Originally streamed last week, this week has seen a duo of re-streams for our global audience, allowing SHOWstudio.com viewers the world over another glimpse at all the action from the set. Catch Jonathan Kaye styling, Sam McKnight back-combing and Petros Petrohilos powdering the nose of our model Ming Xi in our exclusive look behind-the-scenes, alongside the action in front of Nick Knight's lens and SHOWstudio.com Fashion Director Alexander Fury metaphorically unpicking these priceless couture creations.

CURRENT IN FASHION, ALICE HAWKINS
British photographer Alice Hawkins' brand of brash, bombastic and unashamedly glamorous beauty has proven irresistible to publications from Russian Vogue to LOVE, and clients from Smirnoff to Versace. In a rare one-on-one interview, Hawkins herself came in to talk to SHOWstudio Fashion Director Alexander Fury about her career, inspirations and practice, covering everything from Dolly Parton to Donatella Versace to Chingford Ladies Tea-Dance Club. A one-off interview with a truly unique talent. [more]
COMING UP PRACTICE TO DECEIVE
SHOWstudio.com Shop is pleased to present Practice to Deceive: Smoke & Mirrors in Fashion, Fine Art and Film, running from 15 April to 16 July 2011. Conceptually built around the expression 'smoke and mirrors', Practice to Deceive approaches the saying both literally - juxtaposing iconic photographs of people smoking and physical mirrored sculptural surfaces; and figuratively - looking at the expression and how it refers to deceit and artifice, two things that come up time and time again in art and fashion on many levels. Fundamentally, we set out to both examine the artifice and illusion of the end product, as well as how smoke and mirrors are themselves infinitely seductive subjects; a pop-culture cliche of post-coital cigarette in mirrored boudoir and the implicit narcissism of a gaze into a mirror. The exhibition includes major works by François and Bernard Baschet, Fernand Fonssagrives, Walter Hugo, William Klein, Nick Knight, Craig McDean, Joseph Szabo, and Sissel Tolaas amongst others. As part of the exhibition, SHOWstudio.com has invited key artists and major fashion designers to 'take up residence' in our LiveStudio in Bruton Place and create one-off garments and art-pieces that will then be added to the show. COMING UP LIVESTUDIO - BISHI
Multicultural multi-instrumentalist Bishi's LiveStudio - the closing act of our Florist show earlier this year - was an audio and visual feast, featuring a cacophony of projections custom-created by a selection of artists, and Bishi's own style of all-enveloping, genre-bending music. Next week will see our video playlist of her one-off live performance set launching: the perfect colourful and explosive beginning to Spring.
FROM THE SHOP PAPER DOLLS, 2009
Leading London-based designer Peter Jensen and award-winning contemporary artist Laurie Simmons offer up the perfect stimulant for Spring with their coveted S/S 2010 collaboration. The unique presentation of this collection stipulated that each outfit was rendered both real-sized and in miniature. The collection not only clothed life-sized models, but also paper dolls of those mannequins, created from Simmons' photographs. However, something of the doll seeped into the collection too, with Barbie-scale pearls, oversized rick-rack braid and giant poppers blurring the lines between real and make-believe miniature. Part art installation, part high-fashion experimentation, SHOWstudio Shop has a series of these unique doll-sized creations available, and whether it be to enhance a wintry wall or bring colour into your home these alluring pieces undeniably set the tone for the coming months. FROM THE ARCHIVE 24 HOURS
With clocks, brains and weather thoroughly adjusted to British Summer Time, the moment felt ripe to re-examine 24HRS, SHOWstudio.com's interactive, multifaceted project showcasing the first Edition 24 collection by Yves Saint Laurent. A collaboration between Nick Knight and Yves Saint Laurent Creative Director Stefano Pilati, 24HRS saw SHOWstudio.com live-broadcast a shoot over (you guessed it) twenty-four hours back in 2007, creating catalogue imagery and a series of films to showcase the all-day versatility of this unique YSL collection through still and moving imagery.
